I’m Inbal Cabiri, a travel and food writer and photographer. I’ve lived near Barcelona since 2017, with my Argentine partner, our two sons and a considerable collection of houseplants. The Lego has long since outgrown any reasonable storage solution.

Before this, I spent more than a decade working in criminal law and academic research. These days, my questions tend to concern food, places and the people behind them. I still like to check the answers.

Spain is home and the focus of much of my work, though my travels and assignments take me elsewhere. I’m often drawn to a place through something quite specific: a restaurant, a building, a market or a photograph I want to make. The rest of the trip develops from there.

I write about travel, food and culture, and photograph destinations, restaurants, hotels and interiors. Some projects begin with an editorial brief; others begin with a visit that leaves me wanting to know more.

My legal and research background is useful here. I’m comfortable digging through information, following up on a detail and asking another question when the first answer doesn’t quite explain things.

I’m particularly interested in how tourism affects everyday life. Living near a city as visited as Barcelona makes that difficult to ignore. I’ve completed GSTC Sustainable Tourism training, which informs the questions I ask about destinations and hospitality businesses.

Photography is an equally important part of my work. I take on standalone commissions as well as projects that combine words and images.

The blog is where I share what I’d tell a friend planning a trip: which neighbourhood I’d choose, what I’d book ahead and whether something was worth the detour.

I’m vegetarian. My family has other ideas. That’s why many of my food recommendations are for places where people with different appetites can eat happily at the same table.

You’ll find city guides, places to stay and accounts of trips with my family or on my own. I include practical details alongside the things that caught my attention, and make clear when a recommendation comes from a personal visit or from research.

There are disappointments here, too. A beautiful room doesn’t make up for a bad night’s sleep, and a photogenic meal still has to taste good.
