My secret list – hand picked hotels in Catalonia

My secret list

One of my hobbies is scouring for the best deals on hotels. After years of searching, I’ve compiled an updated list of my favorite hotels in Catalonia, including the Pyrenees and the Costa Brava.

These hotels are perfect for a short weekend getaway or a longer vacation, as there are plenty of options in Spain due to the many holidays and long weekends. Most of them are also family-friendly, but some are more geared towards adults.
The hotels I’ve selected are located in rural areas, with stone walls and a slow pace of life. They’re eco-friendly and offer a peaceful atmosphere that’s close to nature. Almost all of them fit this description, but if you have any other recommendations, feel free to share them in the comments.

A beautiful boutique hotel from 1526 that was recently renovated.
The place is spacious and overlooks a lovely view in the volcanic area of La Groche.
There is a spa with a warm indoor pool and a sauna that is very nice to visit in the winter.
We stayed in an apartment, which was spacious, with a view, equipped with a fully equipped kitchen and, in general, decorated in a charming style.
The hotel has a restaurant, a bar with a burning fireplace and a dining room where breakfast is served.
In the summer there is a great outdoor pool here.
We came for birthday celebrations and we loved it.

Hotel Mas Bosch 1526

What I liked is the fact that it is ecological, relatively close, the spa and the indoor pool. To the best of my recollection, when I put this place on my wishlist some years ago, it was child-free, or at least there were restrictions on that.
Now, in the face of the times, he even welcomes this segment of the population.
The design is very much to my liking, full of natural light.
It offers diverse activities such as yoga classes, cooking workshops and nature walks.
Its concept is somewhat reminiscent of the Carmel Forest Hotel, which at least once was a big attraction.
There is breakfast, two restaurants and a bar.
Travel – about half an hour from the city.

Mas Salagros EcoResort & SPA

An estate that defines itself as a slow B&B.
Seven rooms in total, each with a different character – four in the main building and another three in a separate building.
In the common area there is a solarium, a fireplace, a dining room.
Breakfast – yes.
Travel – about an hour and 20 minutes.

Mas El Barber

Accommodation apartments for two to five people with a special design, in the center of Olot, in the heart of the La Garrocha volcanic park.
There is a large garden and *indoor pool*.
Travel – about an hour and a half from Barcelona.

El Jardinet de Sant Esteve

A charming B&B in the Pyrenees with a warm rustic design. Outdoor pool in the garden.
There are double and family rooms with a view of the garden or the mountains.
Breakfast is included in the price, based on local and seasonal ingredients. Bicycles can be rented.
There is also a horse riding center that organizes trips.

A boutique spa hotel located on a secluded and picturesque bay in Costa Brava.
There are two restaurants: one is fancy and serves gourmet Mediterranean food and the other offers a variety of dishes in a relaxed atmosphere.
Emporis Hostel has a spa with a swimming pool, saunas, a gym and a feeling shower circuit. Bicycles and electric scooters are available for rent.
I have a friend who goes here every year on her birthday and recently a very famous Catalan architect also visited here. you know 🙂

A small and charming hotel in Bogur, one of the most beautiful towns on the Costa Brava, in a Catalan mansion from the 18th century.
All rooms overlook the hotel balcony or the city.
In the city center, about a five-minute walk from the hotel, there are several cafes, bars and restaurants.

Isolated cabins in the heart of the forest, with a terrace.
The place offers bike tours, a fitness center and a garden.
The complex has a restaurant that serves Mediterranean cuisine. Vegetarian, dairy-free and vegan dishes can also be requested.

An authentic stone house run by a family from 1748.

The original wine cellar still contains barrels since then (!), while the oil pressing room has been converted into a library.

The hotel has a spectacular view of Mount Montserrat.

The hotel rooms are decorated with natural materials in neutral tones. They have a large bathroom with a bathrobe and slippers.

The hotel includes an outdoor pool, nestled in nature. In the area of a beautiful lake and stables.

The old barn next to the house has been converted into a restaurant and the meals are prepared with the organic vegetables from the garden. Breakfast includes homemade cakes, baked by the family’s grandmother.

A hotel housed in a traditional Catalan farmhouse from the 13th century, just 10 km from the Costa Brava. The hotel has an outdoor pool, free spa center, par 3 golf and paddle tennis court, surrounded by beautiful gardens.
