Everyone talks about the Dolomites. But this summer we spent more than a week in Italy’s Aosta Valley – the country’s smallest region, tucked between France and Switzerland – and even in peak season, it felt like we had the mountains almost to ourselves.
I wrote about it for Appetito Magazine: where we stayed, the hikes worth the climb, the cable car that takes you to the foot of Mont Blanc, a lake that mirrors the Matterhorn, and, of course, the food. Expect plenty of fontina.
If you’re looking for a slower, greener kind of Italian summer, with or without kids, this one’s for you.
