Best boutique hotels in Barcelona

Barcelona is a city that radiates good vibes. It’s a lively and colorful place, where art and fine food are everywhere. It has it all – the sea, the city, the architecture, the mountains, the scenery, the rich history, and most of all – the friendly and cheerful people. No wonder it draws so many tourists, students, business people, and families. Everyone wants to join the fun and energetic atmosphere here. It doesn’t matter how long you stay – a few days, months, or years. You won’t regret a single moment. Barcelona is a city where fun is more than a word, it’s a way of life.

Let’s explore some of my favorite boutique hotels in the city.

Praktik Hotels

Praktik Hotels is an eco-friendly hotel chain that offers a practical and comfortable stay in the heart of Barcelona. Each hotel has its personality and theme, such as  bakery, wine, garden, etc. The design is modern and cozy and other are cool facilities like yoga mats.

The hotels also have restaurants, cafeterias, and bars. All of them are very centrally located.

A very central boutique hotel designed in a special style that offers bicycles, iPads and scooters for rent.
Location – Eixample.
There is a very nice terrace on the roof.

Icon BCN

Casa Bonay is a charming hotel in a 19th-century building in central Barcelona. It has a cozy and eclectic style, with different types of rooms, some with balconies, terraces, or hammocks. You can enjoy Catalan food, coffee, cocktails, and natural wines in its restaurants, cafeterias, and bars.
I love the restaurant and its unique design.
There’s a rooftop terrace with great views and music. Location – Grav Via, close to Tetuan metro station and Plaça Catalunya.

Casa Bonay

Not only the central location, between Ramblas and Macba, it’s mainly its cool vibe.
Below the hotel is the Dos Palillos restaurant that serves Spanish-Japanese style tapas (one Michelin star).
Hammocks in the room – what can be more relaxing than that?
The buffet is open 24 hours.
Neighborhood – Al Raval.

Casa Camper

This 20-room boutique hotel offers a cozy and stylish stay, with free yoga classes, a running club, a sauna, and an outdoor pool. The rooms are designed with modern furniture and artwork by young European designers, and some of them have a private terrace with an outdoor bath.
The hotel also has a restaurant, Palo Cortao, that serves a revisited taverna cuisine with a twist.
Hotel Brummell is a great base to explore Barcelona, as it is close to the Miró Foundation, the Grec theater, and the Montjuïc mountain, where you can find parks, gardens, museums, and historical monuments.

Hotel Brummell

A five-star hotel with rooms decorated in a contemporary style, a quiet and well-kept garden where you can choose to have breakfast.
Neighborhood – Sant Gervasi (5 minutes walk from Les Tres Torres metro station)

Primero Primera

$$$$

A boutique hotel in a former textile factory on the edge of El Born, a few minutes’ walk from the Palau de la Música and the Arc de Triomf. The name comes from the 19th-century passage that still runs underneath the building.

The rooftop is the highlight: a pool, sunloungers and a view over the whole city. Downstairs there’s a small spa with a sauna and hammam, plus a gym – both for guests 16 and up.

Only 60 rooms, so it feels personal. Better suited to couples than to families with young kids.

Yurbban Passage Hotel & Spa

Barcelona’s grande dame. It opened in 1919 as the Ritz, and it still has all the old-school glamour: marble, gilding, and some bathrooms with Roman-style mosaic baths set into the floor.

On the roof there’s a garden with jasmine-covered pergolas, a small pool and a tapas bar. Downstairs, the Mayan-inspired spa has a traditional temazcal steam room, and the Bluesman bar has live jazz most nights.

Don’t miss Amar, chef Rafa Zafra’s seafood restaurant – one of the best places in the city for a splurge.

It’s on Gran Via, in the Eixample, a short walk from Passeig de Gràcia.

Hotel El Palace Barcelona

A hotel from the prestigious Marriott chain, which used to be the headquarters of the local cotton manufacturers’ association.
Defines itself as a hotel for travelers who want to discover the true essence of Barcelona.
An outdoor pool, a gym and spa, a library, a terrace, a tailor who will come and take measurements for sewing a custom shirt (!) just like in the old days
Location – Gran Via, short walk from Catalonia Square

Cotton House Hotel

A five-star hotel with a spa and garden that alone is worth coming here for.
Clean and elegant design, spacious rooms, gym.
Location – Eixample

Alma Barcelona GL

A 28-room boutique hotel housed in a building from the 18th century in a very central location and with a beautiful design. The hotel also has a rooftop terrace and a library.

The hotel also owns spacious apartments of a similar price, in a restored building.
Location – the Gothic quarter.

Hotel Neri – Relais & Chateaux
